Climbing Cerro La Picada

A mountain ascent immersed in a Patagonian landscape; less physically demanding than the climb of Osorno or Calbuco. With a dynamic route: combining trekking with easy steps on rock, unique and contemplative views of the major volcanoes, the lake All Saints and the Fields of Lake Llanquihue.

The climbing route allows safe and entertaining ascent throughout the year. In winter and spring with snowy slopes, and already in summer and autumn on rock and volcanic scree. In its beginning it crosses the upper part of the trekking “el paso de la desolación”, the saddle that connects “La Picada” with the Osorno volcano, and then it continues along the ridges that go into this ancient volcano and the beginning of the climb to its summit.

The full day will have about 16 kilometers of travel and almost 900 meters of altitude to overcome, the plan will be to leave from Puerto Varas at dawn, to make the most of our time in the heart of the Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park!
