Trekking to La Picada

The remains of an ancient volcano are the closest neighbor of Osorno Volcano. A sedimentary mountain with steep ravines. It was named by the Mapuches as “Caulle” (Seagull) and is commonly known as “La Picada”.

The route provides an insight into Chile’s oldest national park. With a Patagonian landscape, this trekking will give us wonderful views of the east & northeast side of the Osorno volcano and west face of “Cerro La Picada”, as well we will explore the “Paso de La Desolación”.

La Picada is housed in the northwest end of “Todos Los Santos” lake, in the heart of the Vicente Perez Rosales National Park, our trail makes a semi-circuit from about 14 kilometers of extension and around 800 meters in positive slope (and 710 meters descent), this altitude to gain will allow us to contemplate incredible views of the three main lakes of the area.

Undoubtedly the best months to enjoy this walk are between November and April, when there are more sunny days and less snow on the route, but in winter time the snow turn it in a real adventure!
