We will hike from the shore of the lake part of the trail “Los Alerces” before we head our hike up in “La Desolación” trail, ending the climb at the top of a small waterfall, place where we will enjoy our lunch.
In the way back we will cross some of the lahars where today runs the melted snow from the volcano into the lake, bringing the rock-flour responsible of the turquoise color of the waters.
Most of the trails that we will use were made in first half of the XX century by settlers seeking the snowy slopes for ski and the alerce trees for built the typical wooden houses from Pto. Varas. Today. This is the most visited area of the park and where we can easily enjoy the flora that shapes the moving soil of our volcanoes while experience the best views of the lakes district.
